We know that summer camp experiences help children:
- develop resilience
- establish self-confidence
- build lasting friendships
- bridge gaps in learning
Four years ago, Lamoille Family Center started a program to invest in our youth by providing camp scholarships to kids who do not have the financial capacity to attend a summer program.
Local agencies such as the school districts, Lamoille County Mental Health Services, Lamoille Restorative Center, and Department for Children and Families refer kids facing financial hardship to us and we assist them in attending a camp of their choice based on available funds. Last year, we sent over 60 kids to camp!
This year, LFC’s “Kids to Camp” program was honored to be one of the recipients of Stowe Mountain Resort’s Vail Epic Promise grant. Local organizations such as Union Bank, Alpine Snow Guards, and Community National Bank are also sponsoring this year’s “Kids to Camp.” We are so grateful for this community support, making camp experiences possible for so many children whose family simply cannot afford it.
If you know of a business or community organization that may want to sponsor a group of kids’ camperships, let us know by contacting jskonicki@lamoillefamilycenter.org!
